The icon is the perfect and most direct expression of the religious and esthetic feelings proper of the easternl Christianity.

The icon represents characters or sacred events talking to the Spirit, it is more than a simple painting, it's made possible by the historical event of the Incarnation.

All the charm of this unusual artistic expression at the same time mystic and evocative, is preserved intact in the halls of Palazzo Barolo.

"Eikon", cultural initiative patronized by the Piemonte region in collaboration with the general consulate of the Russian federation and hosted by Mauro Pozzati, iconologist, expert in fine arts and antiquarians of the Chamber of Commerce of Biella and Vercelli, is proud to present a collection of 75 paintings, the result of an extensive research involving more than a thousand pieces.The aim of "Eikon" is to spread to an ever growing number of people the knowledge of this art which is the unique expression in the painting history.
